How do Flat Plate Solar Collectors work?
Heat from the sun is absorbed into a solar collector mounted on your roof. The hot liquid (Distilled Water) in the collector is then routed to your tank to heat your water and then back to the collector in a continuous loop giving you hot water to enjoy at any time.
-
Indirect pressurized system (fluid heated never comes in contact with usable water)
-
Uses Distilled Water
-
When pumps are off, the water drains back out of the collectors to the reservoir tank
-
This keeps the collectors from freezing
-
The Drain back System functions like The Direct System accept that the potable water is not the fluid that is circulated
-
It uses differential controller to start the pump
-
Sensors attached to collector detect useful sunlight available
-
When the temperature in the collector is higher than temperature at the bottom of the tank the pump kicks on
-
The system routes distilled the water from the tank to the collector on the roof and then back in continuous loop
-
The heat exchanger is in the reservoir tank
-
The pumps continue as long as sensors detect useful sunlight
-
When not used, the water drains back to reservoir tank
-
No water is left in collector
